It is one of the fastest growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 10,000 years ago. It can be refined into a variety of commercial items, including paper, textiles, clothing, biodegradable plastics, paint, insulation, biofuel, food, and animal feed. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, which are the chemicals naturally found in cannabis such as hemp. CBD doesn’t create a “high” effect or any form of intoxication — that’s caused by another cannabinoid, known as THC. The potential medical benefits of CBD include: Anxiety relief, Anti-seizure, Neuroprotective, Pain relief, Anti-acne, Cancer treatment.
We focus on North American mid-market companies with high growth potential. We stay in industries we know the best, namely consumer products, mining, clean technology, and hemp & CBD.
Industrial hemp in Canada is regulated by the new Industrial Hemp Regulations, which were incorporated under the Cannabis Act that entered into force on October 17, 2018. Canada defines “industrial hemp” (hereafter “hemp”) as cannabis varieties that contain less than 0.3 percent of THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) in the flowering heads and leaves.
The 2018 Farm Bill became law on December 20, 2018. The 2018 Farm Bill removed Hemp from the list of controlled substances under the Controlled Substances Act. The 2018 Farm Bill also redefined Hemp to include its “derivatives, extracts, and cannabinoids”, and accordingly removed popular Hemp products, such as Hemp-derived cannabidiol (“CBD”) from the purview of the DEA.
